Gas Engineer Gloucester

Are you having a new kitchen installed or do you just need a new gas cooker? Or perhaps you are wanting to install a gas fire to create that warm atmosphere in winter? Whatever your plumbing and heating needs, you can count on us. If your appliance breaks down we can either repair, or in the worst case replace it for you. We can carry out installations, safety checks and yearly servicing to give you that extra peace of mind.

So why do I need to have regular servicing?
Gas is a very economical way of heating your home but if you don’t keep your appliances regularly serviced you could be putting yourself at risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.  See the emergencies tab for more info on CO poisoning.

One way of ensuring your safety is to have a carbon monoxide alarm in the same room as the appliance which will alert you to the presence of CO quickly. This will allow you to shut the appliance off, open windows and doors, exit the house as quickly as possible and call an ambulance if you suspect anyone is suffering from CO poisoning. You then need to ring the Gas Emergency Services and keep the appliance turned off until you have had it tested and serviced.

These alarms are cheap to buy and are able to detect low levels of CO and so save many lives each year. However, having one of these alarms should not be used as a substitute for regular servicing and testing.

The gold standard is to have your appliance serviced and checked every year, however some can go longer. To find out how long to leave it between servicing check the manual.

If you notice your appliance isn’t working properly or is showing any of the below warning signs, stop using it and ring us to get it checked by our emergency plumber straight away:
  • The pilot light won’t stay on
  • Black stains or marks can be seen around the device
  • It is burning a slow yellow flame instead of a crisp blue flame
  • The amount of condensation in the room has increased.
